This artwork was inspired by Edelweiss Bowl at Alpental, one of the most dramatic and recognizable areas at The Summit at Snoqualmie. Surrounded by steep alpine terrain, deep winter snow, and sweeping views across the Cascades, Alpental has a character that feels completely different from anywhere else in Washington.

Alpental is especially meaningful to me because it’s where my own snowboarding journey began. I learned to snowboard here, and it became the starting point for my much bigger mission to personally visit, snowboard, and illustrate ski areas across America.

Like every location in my collection, I experienced Alpental for myself before bringing it home to draw. The original artwork was created by hand on my iPad using my Apple Pencil, with hours spent building the mountain contours, snow-covered evergreens, distant ridgelines, and the expansive view through Edelweiss Bowl.

The finished piece is designed to capture that feeling of standing high in the mountains, looking down through the bowl toward layers of snow-covered peaks and clouds below.
