Inspired by the beautiful alpine setting of Cooper Lake near Cle Elum, Washington, this artwork captures the peaceful turquoise water, dramatic mountain backdrop, surrounding evergreens, and the feeling of escaping into one of my favorite local places.

Cooper Lake is especially meaningful to me because it was one of the original four drawings that helped launch I Love Washington. It is also somewhere I’ve personally spent time exploring, and one of my favorite things to do is paddleboard out toward the middle of the lake and take in the surrounding mountain range. The water is absolutely beautiful — although, with so much of it fed by snow and glacier melt, I definitely prefer staying on the paddleboard rather than falling in!

The original artwork was created by hand on my iPad using my Apple Pen, with many hours spent building the mountains, forest, lake, and tiny details throughout the scene.
