Some places are so striking they almost don’t look real.
Jade Lake is one of those places. Tucked high in Washington’s mountains, its vivid turquoise water sits beneath rugged alpine peaks, creating one of the most dramatic landscapes in the region. The contrast between the bright blue-green lake, rocky ridgelines, and warm light across the mountains is what inspired me to capture this view.
Like every location in my collection, Jade Lake is somewhere I’ve personally experienced before bringing it home to draw. The original artwork was created by hand on my iPad using my Apple Pencil, with dozens of hours spent carefully building the mountains, reflections, shoreline, and all the little details that make the scene feel true to place.
I especially wanted this piece to capture that feeling of arriving somewhere remote and completely surrounded by nature — the kind of place that makes you stop, take it all in, and remember exactly why the journey was worth it.
