Inspired by Lake Easton in Kittitas County, Washington, this artwork captures the calm water, surrounding mountains, forested shoreline, and the pedestrian bridge stretching across the foreground — a familiar view from one of Central Washington’s most enjoyable places to spend a day outdoors.

Lake Easton is somewhere I’ve personally explored before bringing it home to draw, and there is so much to enjoy here beyond the view. A fantastic trail winds around the lake and is perfect for both walking and mountain biking, making it a beautiful place to explore at your own pace.

The lake itself is non-motorized, which gives it a wonderfully peaceful atmosphere and makes it ideal for kayaking, canoeing, paddleboarding, and swimming. There are areas with long aquatic reeds, though, so I always recommend choosing a clear section of water for swimming rather than venturing into the vegetation where you could become tangled.

There’s also a beautiful picnic area, along with plenty of nearby camping and RV spots, making Lake Easton a great place for everything from a quick afternoon adventure to an entire weekend outdoors.

The original artwork was created by hand on my iPad using my Apple Pen, with many hours spent building the lake, mountain reflections, surrounding landscape, bridge, and colorful sunset one detail at a time.
