Mount Rushmore, Day Time
Mount Rushmore South Dakota Artwork
Some landmarks are instantly recognizable.
Seeing them in person is something completely different.
Mount Rushmore rises from the Black Hills of South Dakota, with the faces of George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Theodore Roosevelt, and Abraham Lincoln carved directly into the granite mountainside. It is one of America’s most iconic landmarks, and the scale of it is difficult to appreciate until you are standing there yourself.
Mount Rushmore is somewhere I’ve personally visited before bringing it home to draw. Staying true to my rule that if I haven’t been there, I don’t draw it, I wanted this piece to capture both the monument itself and the dramatic feeling of approaching it through the surrounding landscape.
The original artwork was created by hand on my iPad using my Apple Pen, with dozens of hours spent building the stone textures, carved faces, trees, road, and bright daytime sky.
This Mount Rushmore art print is available in four sizes: 12×18, 18×24, 24×36, and 24×44 inches, making it easy to choose anything from a smaller accent piece to a bold statement artwork.
It makes a meaningful addition to homes, cabins, offices, travel-inspired spaces, and National Park collections, and is a great gift for road-trippers, history lovers, South Dakota visitors, and anyone who has a special connection to the Black Hills.
Mount Rushmore is also part of my wider mission to personally visit and illustrate every National Park in America, one adventure and one drawing at a time.
